Vacation Quarter
You may be eligible for a one quarter (approximately 3 months) vacation period if you completed 3 consecutive quarters at UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education AND intend to continue your studies at UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education after your vacation has ended. This vacation may occur in fall, winter, spring, or summer quarter. To apply for a vacation quarter, you must make an appointment with an Immigration Advisor in CE1, BEFORE your classes end. You are only eligible for a vacation period if you are in good academic standing and plan to continue your studies at UCI Division of Continuing Education immediately after your approved vacation. Students on academic probation may not qualify for a vacation period. Also, indicating vacation quarter on your intention form does not mean you are automatically approved. You must meet with an Immigration Advisor.
If you plan to return to a different program (for example, Accelerated Certificate Program) at UCI Division of Continuing Education after the approved vacation quarter, you must have already applied for that program before meeting with an Immigration Advisor.
During your meeting with an Immigration Advisor, be prepared to pay for a tuition deposit of $200.00 for the quarter following your vacation. This is a non-refundable deposit. To be eligible for a vacation quarter, your balance must be paid or you must have a valid Financial Guarantee letter if you are sponsored by an embassy. If you are an embassy-sponsored student, you must obtain approval from your embassy advisor BEFORE meeting with an Immigration Advisor to apply for a vacation quarter.
In order to make an appointment, email them at ImmigrationOfficials@ce.uci.edu or visit them during their advising hours Monday through Thursday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in CE1.
