TRAVEL
Avoid travel between June 26-June 29 if possible. If you will enter the United States during this time, remember the following information:
VISA APPLICATIONS
If you are applying for an F-1 visa, you will likely experience delays due to current technical issues and the SEVIS outage. Check with your local U.S. Embassy for more information.
SEVIS I-901 FEE
The I-901 System will not be able to process SEVIS fee payments during this time. New students will need to pay before or after the outage.
DMV and Social Security
Apply for a driver license or Social Security Number (if you are eligible) before or after the outage.
Avoid travel between June 26-June 29 if possible. If you will enter the United States during this time, remember the following information:
- Bring your original I-20 and I-901 SEVIS Fee Receipt (available online at www.fmjfee.com) with you on the plane. You also need to bring a valid passport, F-1 visa and proof of financial support. Do NOT pack these documents in your luggage.
- If you are a current student and will continue your studies in Summer 2015, you need to obtain a travel signature on page 3 of your I-20 from an immigration advisor before you leave the United States.
- You will likely experience delays at the airport. It is possible that you will go through a secondary inspection at the border or miss connecting flights.
- In cases where there are questions, the immigration officer may give you a “I-515 A” document, which allows a temporary 30 day admission into the United States. If you receive a “1-515A” document, please email ImmigrationOfficials@ce.uci.edu immediately after you enter the United States so that an advisor can help you. If you do not contact an immigration advisor, your visa status will expire at the end of 30 days.
